The Magic Bag

Ok so to tackle my thoughts on how I can get more out of my movement classes I have introduced a little game that I do every Monday morning. I have a bag and in the bag has different focuses for class. Every Monday morning when I get into uni I pick out a focus and I take this with me for every class I have during the week. The focuses include:

  • LENGTHEN
  • SPIRAL
  • GO TO THE EDGES
  • SKULL
  • MUSCLE
  • BONE
  • BREATH
Each one of these has different qualities to it and most of them takes me out of my comfort zone. This is why I have introduced this idea, so I can push myself to the edges of what I feel comfortable with. This means I will be moving with different tones and therefore a different quality will immerge. This will also help me with my focus in warm ups as I tend to stay with something for a short amount of time then I move into a sort of limbo which I have no focus and I find myself just moving. Recently this has confused me and my understanding of my movement. Which Is why this game will help me eliminate this confusion and I can just get on with my moving and develop my knowledge.

  1. I think that your Magic Bag idea is fab!!! Maybe you could share this idea with others in the group to see if it is a method that could be useful for more of us? I definitely feel this method would benefit me personally and give me a specific focus point for the week. Great idea!! :) xx
